Fully re-bottomed, and converted internally to very high standard with 3 cabins and all comforts.
Viewing is highy recommended to fully appreciate the quality of workmanship.
Built in 1923 by Dunstan's of Thorne, orginally constructed in riveted steel but has since been re-bottomed from stem to engine room bulkhead with 8mm plate. Built as a sailing vessel she has been lovingly restored to same, she is one of only three square rigged keels in the world! Currently sailing rigging removed, allowing for efficient engine only inland sailing. Her engine, Lister JP2 was installed in 1940 as part of the Governments effort to improve water transport over the war period, this has been rebuilt in 1978 and again in 2008 (receipts available), very little usage since rebuild and just recently serviced. During her restoration, she was carefully fitted out to meet the appropriate fire, water and electrical systems for use as a cafe/restaurant and this with her layout would make an ideal business opportunity.
The original crews quarters have been restored to their glory, with its original pitch pine and mahogany, this acts as the third bedroom having a small double bed and a single bed 'hole' and heated by a solid fuel pot stove. Main bedroom (12ft x 8ft) and second bedroom/chart room (12ft x 6ft), ideal for a family to live on and be the envy of your neighbours. The main living area (30ft x 15ft) is large, bright and airy, having a ceiling height of 10ft with sky lights which enables you to have great views of the sails and rigging. The solid fuel Rayburn is great for cooking and also gives out good heat for the winter months. Under the portside foredeck is the toilet room which as a full flushing toilet with approx 200 gallons stainless steel holding tank, sink with a pump system and under stairs cupboard. Under starboard foredeck is a tiled Victorian style shower room. The water is heated by either a Reflex diesel stove (winter) or immersion heater (summer). She has been fully sprayfoamed insulated which makes her cool in the summer and warm in the winter, she also has eleven 1920's brass opening portholes. The sailing rig comprises of hand carved Douglas Fir mast and yard arm, heavy duty Duraclon traditional sail (1100 square feet), fully engineered traditional steel sheet rollers/halyard roller and oak blocks. Not only does she have a 1920's refurbished anchor and winch but a 1920's gypsy winch steering and genuine ships wheel which replaces the original tiller but she does have secondary tiller emergency back up. The navigation lights have all been restored and are mounted in mahogany light boxes. There is a 4 kva generator (key start) housed above deck, in the engine room a back up 3kva Lister generator (to match engine) and a 3KW inverter. Shore power and a full 12v back up circuit with 330 amps of battery power for use when under sail. Ample storage throughout the boat. Every space has been utilised. Existing survey in place and full survey available with sale. Mast, sail and rigging removed and stored inside, since Southcliffe has only been used on the inland waterways for the last 2 years.
Hull blackened every 2 years and she has just has a full high quality repaint.
Part exchange offers will be considered!
